Town Tennis has a long and distinguished history. Founded in 1954 by six-time Grand Slam champion Don Budge and his best friend, 1931 Wimbledon champion Sidney Wood, the Club reflected their passion to preserve the sport of tennis in the most populous city in America. Since then, Town Tennis has thrived as a unique tennis venue in midtown Manhattan, serving as a home away from home for countless tennis legends including Pancho Gonzales, Bill Tilden, Bobby Riggs, Arthur Ashe, Pancho Segura, Maria Bueno, Gussy Moran, Jimmy Connors, Monica Seles, Jim Courier, and Serena Williams, just to name a few.
